VENUS (a play about energy) is the fourth in a series of ecologically-inspired Planet Plays currently being created by Superhero Clubhouse, an NYC-based green theater collective captained by Egg member Jeremy Pickard. You might have caught the first Upright Egg/Superhero Clubhouse collaboration in 2008, when URANUS (a play about waste) premiered in St. Paul.

Citizens of a small town located on the volatile surface of planet Venus gather at the local firehouse each day to eat pancakes, and to assuage the ferocious volcanoes waiting to burst outside. Into this community of ex-patriot 20-something Earthlings enters a girl from another world. Igniting an affair with the local boy serving coffee, her presence pressurizes and destabilizes their idyllic town, and everything erupts.
